The Front End Developer delivers rich, highly dynamic, intuitive, and accessible client-side applications that meet user need

Role Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined agile team to deliver user focussed and successful solutions
  • Develop production ready Front End code
  • Develop accessible and cross browser / cross device compatible code
  • Work with designers to define interaction patterns
  • Work with back-end developers to integrate front-end and back-end code, ensuring design integrity and performance
  • Communicate credibly with a wide range of digital delivery disciplines and talent both internally and externally
  • Comply with all confidentiality and non-disclosure policies and/or agreements and ensures security of information at all times
  • Build and maintain front-end libraries and frameworks

Required Experience

  • Experience in a relevant role either agency or client side
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering as part of an agile team
  • Experienced in web and mobile application UI development
  • Experience in large commercial agile projects will be a benefit


The following are required skills:

  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and SASS, JS patterns and JQuery
  • Experience building responsive sites/applications
  • Experience building and testing across browsers and devices
  • Experience building to at least W3C AA standard for accessibility
  • Knowledge using front end build systems (e.g. Grunt)
  • Knowledge managing front-end dependencies (e.g. Bower)
  • Knowledge working with version control systems (e.g. GIT)
  • Organising and building UI modules
  • Understanding of the technological and business implications of a task, and technical debt
  • Understanding of information architecture, interaction design, visual design and prototyping
  • Has an open attitude to sharing information
  • A good understanding of Agile delivery methodology
  • Able to work unsupervised with a pre-defined technology set

The following are desirable skills:

  • Active participant in communities of interest
  • Has experience developing for mobile and tablet
  • Has contributed to open source projects

While we will attempt to base you on projects near or at your contracted office location, you need to be willing to travel to client sites and spend time away during the week if it is required.
