Do you want to get valuable real-world experience in your placement year, working on projects alongside experienced teams and developers?

Placements at Kainos

As a placement student working on real projects with Kainos, you will spend your year learning and working on projects where you can make a real difference to people’s lives.

You’ll take part in our award-winning eight-week Trainee Development Programme, where you’ll get a real sense of our culture, and we’ll equip you with all the knowledge, skills and mentoring you need to feel comfortable in your new role. Then you’ll join one of our many project teams, to learn from our experienced developers, project managers and customer-facing staff. You’ll have great support and mentoring, balanced with the experience of being given real, meaningful work to do, to help you truly develop both technically and professionally.

We offer roles every year to placement students from User Design to Software Engineering, we’ve got a role to suit you and your degree no matter what the speciality. Throughout my placement, I was treated like a really valuable Kainos employee, not like a student. I have learned new skills and perfected what I already knew. When I go back to university, I can say with confidence that I am going to perform very well. It was the placement year that gave me that confidence to succeed.

The main thing I noticed on my placement was that we weren’t treated as students. Within the team or in social aspects of the company, everyone’s opinion mattered. The support I felt was amazing and I am extremely excited to see where it will take me in the years to come.

Apart from formal training I also get a lot of support from my colleagues here in Belfast and in Gdansk. Within Kainos there are a lot of knowledge sharing sessions, which helps make me a better overall engineer as a result.
